the above is an old newspaper report from 2 years backThursday 22nd March 2007
Motorists are being urged to donate their old bangers or unwanted cars to the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The vehicles will then be used for road traffic collision training.
The cars should be taken to the training centre with their V5 logbooks to ensure that they can be officially scrapped through the DVLA when the service is finished with them.
Keith Emsall, executive member for community safety, said: "This is a much better idea than just scrapping unwanted cars.
"As well as being environmentally responsible, this scheme provides a great contribution to training."
To get rid of your old car, call 01438 847320 in advance and take it to the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service Training Centre in Longfield, Hitchin Road, Stevenage
