The very Biggest assumption we all make in this job!

As we all go about our business, each day issuing a PCN to a vehicle in contravention....

We make the entirely understandable assumption that the registration plates that we are looking at, refer to the vehicle that they are attached to.

BUT DO THEY? In the great majority of cases - of course they do, but for the last few years there has been a very small group of people continuing to seek evasion of various traffic regulations including parking and they have found that by easily stealing another vehicles' number plates and using those on their own car that all further tickets/ fines/ penalties go to somebody else!

How easy is it to steal number plates from another car? Well you need a screwdriver and a quiet street, so pretty easy!

What are the chances of being caught? CEOs have to note the Tax Disc number of the car they are issuing a PCN to, at the same time they will see the Registration Number of the car written on the tax disc, is that the same Registration No as the number plates displayed?

Have you ever had an occasion when that Reg No on the tax disc did not match the vehicles Registration Plates?

You won't be able to rely on the tax disc any more.
